How We Work

01

Over 2 billion peoplE in rural areas ARE FARMERS

02

$32 billion IN PHILANTHROPY SUPPORTs THEIR HEALTH and EDUCATION each year.

03

Yet, FARMERS STILL CAN'T ACCESS HEALTHCARE & EDUCATION. CURRENT EFFORTS BARELY WORK.

Low community participation is the culprit. We've pioneered an evidence-based model that achieves high participation and transforms community health and education.

A Diiferent Way to Thrive

Rural farmers grow Cocoa

Farm revenues send girls to school

The community receives 80% subsidized healthcare

The Problem:
Cocoa Farming Inequity

Cocoa is one of Ghana’s most valuable exports. Yet cocoa farmers struggle with limited income and access to community resources.

Cocoa farmers make between $30-$110 per month on average, and struggle to afford healthcare and school fees for their families.

Our Model

Our proprietary Farm-for-Impact Model is a high-participation community model. At its core, farm labor funds the self-sustaining model. Community time and effort lead to a yearly profit, which is applied to community healthcare and education programs.

Community Insurance

We’ve designed a community insurance program that builds self-sustaining change.

This insurance program creates community-sustained change. Farm revenue driven by farmers increases by 1,425% with Farm for Impact.

Communities generate farm revenue that funds their own access to long-term services. We provide a Farm Card to help community members easily track their farm participation, and their contribution on education and health services. Our model allows for community members to sustain their own healthcare and educational services.

Community partner success in Tarkwa Breman, Ghana

The members of the Cocoa360 insurance program have leveraged cocoa farm revenue to self-sustain a community health clinic and all girl’s school.

Research and Advocacy

For the communities we work with, we believe that good intentions are not enough. So we collaborate with academics at leading institutions to build evidence around our work.

Data-driven insights help us to effectively partner with community leaders and members to strategize and implement interventions with minimal unintended consequences.
