Why Cocoa?

Why Cocoa?

Cocoa is Ghana, and Ghana is Cocoa

A major cash crop producer in the sub-region, Ghana remains the world’s second-leading exporter of cocoa, earning about $3.25billion in export revenues.

We chose cocoa because it was what our community members selected as a cash crop to sustain our work.

“Access to quality education and healthcare in cocoa farming communities has a 360 impact.”

Ghana’s 800,000+ cocoa farmers and their families work hard every day to generate $3.25 billion in annual export revenue for the country. Unfortunately, they grapple with fundamental needs such as access to quality healthcare and education, the two most important social determinants of health.

Despite increasing global demand for cocoa products, farmers still face these harsh realities.

This is an injustice. Let’s change it.

Health

Health

According to the World Health Organization, entrenched health inequities originate mainly from a failure to address social determinants of health, and not so much from the lack of a hospital. The Community Decides.

Education

Education

At Cocoa360, we go beyond medical treatment – we also focus on education for the most vulnerable target of risky health behaviors and infections – young girls. Education fundamentally shapes a child’s lifelong health and impacts their ability to make sound health decisions.
